Grading Syllabus

Satori Karateka will be eligible to grade providing they have fulfilled all technical requirements, hold a current Satori licence and their record book is stamped and the appropriate permission for each section, Khion, Kata & Kumite is signed off.

The record book and licence must be available for the grading examiner’s inspection and endorsement before each grading.

FROM WHITE BELT TO RED BELT 9TH KYU
(Minimum of 10 lessons required & 3 months between each grading)

FROM RED BELT 9TH KYU TO ORANGE BELT 8TH KYU
(Minimum of 12 lessons required & 3 months between each grading)

FROM ORANGE BELT 8TH KYU TO YELLOW BELT 7TH KYU
(Minimum of 16 lessons required & 3 months between each grading)

KIHON (BASIC TECHNIQUES)

  1. Oizuki (stepping punch, jodan and chudan)
  2. Gedanbarai (downward block)
  3. Ageuke (upward block)
  4. Sotouke (outside block)
  5. Maegeri (front snap kick)
  6. Yokogeri kekomi (side thrust kick in kibadachi)

Orange to yellow extra:

KATA (FORM)

  1. Kihon kata (9th kyu)
  2. Heian Shodan (8th kyu)
  3. Heian Nidan (7th kyu)

KUMITE (FIGHTING TECHNIQUES)

1. Sanbon / Gohon Kumite (Jodan oizuki / ageuki * Chudan oizuki / sotouke) 3 Step 5 Step

Note to instructors: Students should have an understanding of shiho zuki kime. (4 directional punching)
